Honest conversations about animal research so we can make compassionate choices…together

How can we make loving decisions for animals and people without first knowing the facts?

We can’t develop compassionate strategies for curing and treating disease if we don’t know the truth about biomedical research with animals. GetReal! lays out the facts so you have the power to make informed decisions about the future health of your loved ones - both people and animals. Here are some of the questions we’ll discuss:

  • Are animals still necessary for biomedical research?

  • Where do research animals live?

  • Who cares for the animals that are involved in research?

  • What is life like for animals in research?

  • What happens to animals after their involvement in research?

  • What role can you play in all of this?

We all want to live long & healthy lives

But health comes at a cost. Virtually every cure, treatment, vaccine, surgical intervention, and diagnostic procedure available today has relied on studies with animals in research. By sharing the facts and creating a community of animal lovers engaged in honest discussion, we can encourage more informed and loving approaches to studying health and disease.

Meet your host Dr. Cindy Buckmaster

Dr. Buckmaster developed a very deep connection with Danny, a monkey she worked with in her own research many years ago. She made a promise to Danny that changed the trajectory of her life's mission - that she would spend her life fighting for compassionate reform in animal research and testing, striving for a day when animals are truly no longer needed for biomedical progress.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Dr. Buckmaster has been directly involved in nearly every aspect of animal research and she has the courage and conviction to be transparent about all of it.
